Advanced Licentiate in Theology (Adv.L.Th.) Print

The Advanced Licentiate in Theology provides a more thorough introduction to Christian theology and aims to equip the student with the knowledge and skills necessary for pastoral ministry within a local church. The student is given a thorough grounding in all of the main areas of theology (Biblical Studies, Systematic and Historical Theology, Practical Theology), and is also exposed to current issues in these fields. Research projects and advanced assignments are included in this programme.

It is hoped that the Licentiate in Theology will be recognized as a Bachelor of Theology (Honours) degree once formal accreditation has been obtained. It must be emphasized, however, that at this stage SGTS cannot and does not offer a recognized degree to students who complete the Advanced Licentiate in Theology programme. Studies will nevertheless be conducted at honours degree level.

"And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3, ESV).
