The Advanced Certificate in Theology provides the student with an introduction to and grounding in the important areas of theology (Biblical Studies, Systematic and Historical Theology, Practical Theology). Biblical languages are not required for the Advanced Certificate. This will be a suitable qualification for various forms of Christian service. It will also provide a good foundation for pastoral ministry, provided it is supplemented by a additional study in practical theology. However, applicants who are called to pastoral ministry are urged to complete a more advanced qualification if at all possible. PrerequisiteBefore enrolling for the Advanced Certificate in Theology a student must complete the Certificate in Theology. Modules requiredIn order to qualify for the Advanced Certificate in Theology, the student must complete a course of study which includes these modules:
Note: 1 point represents ten hours of work for an "average" student. Thust a 30 point module will require 300 hours of work over the course of the year - about 7.5 hours per week for the duration of the 40 week academic year.
Period of studyThe normal period of study required for the Advanced Certificate in Theology is one year full time or two years part-time after completion of the Certificate in Theology. There is, however, no prescribed time period within which the programme must be completed. |
